J.M. Lane is an Irish author, poet and award-winning filmmaker whose work spans Irish mythology, crime, horror and literary fiction.
Originally from Ennis, County Clare, and now based in the west of Ireland, Lane draws heavily on Irish landscape, folklore, history and contemporary life.
He is the author of The Raven Chronicles, a dark reimagining of Irish mythology beginning with Setanta and the Lady by the Water and continuing with Setanta and the Hungry Ones and Setanta and the Blood King.
His other work includes the literary novella The Things We Kept and the forthcoming Irish Gothic crime novel Why the Curlew Cries.
Lane's books have reached number one in their Amazon category and have sold thousands of copies. His work is stocked by independent booksellers including Kenny's Bookshop in Galway.
Alongside fiction, he writes poetry and non-fiction about books, publishing and the realities of being an independent writer. His work has appeared in publications including Books Ireland and Writing.ie.
Lane is also an award-winning micro-filmmaker. His short film Who's There? forms part of a wider interest in low-budget filmmaking as another way of exploring character, dialogue and story.
